Time for a timeout

For six months I've been testing out a different management philosophy that is about as far from my old technique as you could get. Has it worked? I don't honestly know, you'd need to ask my teams. I believe that it's made me a better manager, but I'm not entirely sure how I'd measure that.

What I can measure is that I have less motivation now to write this blog. It's not a question of time, simply a question of desire. If the desire returns then I think the blog will come back too. In the meantime, I wish you all good luck in seeing through the confusion and insincerity of management babble and put your people right at the front, top, and peak of everything you do.

  2. Personally I like what you have to say it's an interesting insight into a philosophy I also share, the difference is you're a Boss and I'm not, so it's a shame to not have this 'third person view' of what is expected of an employee and the motivation behind the man giving the orders.

    Hope you do manage to keep the motivation to update this blog, being new to the company means this is a good way for me to gauge myself and my attitude against the guy who is setting the standards within the company, without imposing them.

    In a cheesy way I find it inspirational to watch someone else on a journey to redefine the way they handle everyday life, not just management as this concept is so big it applies to all aspects of life. Hopefully if you look at it this way you’ll find your motivation again.
